TSCC News for Wednesday, September 3, 2008
Five days and counting until the premier of TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES’ Season Two, Monday, September 8, 2008. As always, the Sarah Connor Society is hard at work to bring you all the TSCC news you can shake a search engine at.
First up, today in cast & crew interviews, the SCS has:
- James Middleton and John Wirth talking TSCC Season Two with Comic Book Resources (spoilerish)
- Thomas Dekker discussing the evolution of John Connor with Edge Boston (ditto), and
- A new video interview with Thomas Dekker posted on our video channel.
Meanwhile, SCS’s friends at the Imagine Me & You Fansite have a scan of Lena Headey as Sarah Connor from TV Guide’s Fall Preview issue.
Digital Spy picks up Josh Friedman’s praise for new cast member Shirley Manson from Sy Fy Portal here (calling Manson’s debut “steely”? GROAN) and you can read the original Sy Fy Portal report here.
IO9 considers TSCC vs. Chuck match-up this fall Mondays at 8:
The smackdown we promised almost a year ago has finally come to pass. Chuck, the NBC show about a dorky retail nerd with a spy-database in his brain, is airing at the same time as Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Monday nights at 8. Will you prefer comedy or drama? Which Firefly alum would you rather watch every week: Chuck’s Adam Baldwin or Sarah Connor’s Summer Glau? Which whiny boy wins your heart, Chuck or John Connor? Robots or spy gadgets? You decide.
C’mon, Sarah and John Connor, Terminators and Summer Glau FTW, people.
iVillage Movie Insider calls TSCC “must-see-TV-on-DVD“.
TSCC is also no. 4 on Entertainment Weekly’s Must List for August 31, 2008:
As we march toward Armageddon, it might help to know who’s already dead.
Excellent, if somewhat morbid, point.
Firefox News summarizes the coverage of last week’s conference call with Josh Friedman and Lena Headey for you here and weighs in on the possibility of a little Terminator-Future Leader of Mankind romance here.
Chito Lapena considers TSCC and “The Dark Side of AI”:
The Terminator mythology is a good lens to address some of the more important AI questions: will our machines eventually turn on us and try to kill us all? In the first Terminator the answer was simple: yes, yes they will.
Eclipse Magazine includes TSCC in its look at the new fall season:
Fox’s Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles got off to a great start last season, but ratings fell off until Brian Austin Green was added to the cast as John Connor’s uncle from the future. The explosive [in more ways than one] series started out smart, but seemed to get smarter from Green’s debut on - and the season ended with quite a bang, considering that it wasn’t planned for that purpose. One of the key relationships in the series [after Sarah Connor and son] has to be the one that’s developing between the cautious Derek Connor and John’s guardian terminator, Cameron [Summer Glau].

The Modesto Bee squeals with glee at the new season of TSCC:
I can’t wait to see if Cameron (Summer Glau) makes it out of that Jeep on “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” (Sept. 8th) Given that she is a indestructible killing machine, I’d say all signs point to yes.
Now with Garbage frontwoman Shirley Manson in the cast as a corporate baddie, the girl-power quotient on the film franchise’s spinoff is impossible to resist.
Oh, hell yeah.
TSCC viewers in the UK and Ireland take note: What’s On TV is reporting that TSCC returns to Virgin 1 for a second season October 22, 2008. They also call TSCC one of the “11 best returning US TV dramas coming soon to a TV near you” which is pretty cool.
Not specifically related to TSCC but of interest to TV addicts everywhere is this story from the Hollywood Reporter, “Study: DVRs save relationships“:
A whopping 79% of 1,000 digital video recorder owners reported that the technology has improved their relationship, according to the NDS DVR Report… DVRs were cited as the second most essential household technology item they can’t live without, second only to the mobile phone. Among non-technological household items, DVR was beaten out only by washing machine and microwave oven.
“The results show how fast the DVR has become an indispensable part of many people’s lives in the US,” said Steve Tranter, vice president, broadband and interactive delivery, NDS Americas. “It’s one of those technologies that, once you use it, it makes you wonder how you coped before.”

Finally, Blabbermouth.net has posted a new video interview with the band Shinedown, whose song “Second Chances” was used in TSCC Second Season promo video.
And remember, you can discuss these stories and more in the Sarah Connor Society Forums. Just remember to keep your arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times.

Did Eclipse magazine just call Derek, “Derek Connor”? WTF?
September 3rd, 2008 - 2:09 pm
It did.
Heh.
Of course, it could be a spoiler from an alternate timeline where Derek married Sarah, took the Connor name then started cheating with the family cyborg. Although, I admit that does seem far-fetched…

The whole Terminator saga is farfetched so anything could happen. ^_^
